Playing Catch Up

Wow, it's been a month since I've posted, and I was behind then too! Yikes! I've got a lot of catching up to do.

First of all, I have to say that Carolee is now 3 months old and just rolled over for the first time this morning...actually 3 times in a row. But apparently that wore her out because she couldn't do it again! :) That's ok...I'm excited!

I don't really know what to say about this last little while. It seems like it's just been a blur. In the aftermath of helping my mom and her funeral, things were very busy and hard to get through. I had my first BAD day about a week after she passed. It was shortly after Michael left, things started to settle down, and I had time to think for the first time. I just lost it and was soooo emotional. I was also upset because I didn't know how to control it. But thankfully it was Sunday and Monday only, and I think that was what I needed to grieve. I still cry every once in a while (like when I see a flower vase on a corner of a street where someone probably died in an accident) but I'm doing much better. We've started a tradition of going to her grave once a month right after church, even though Caleb has asked to go more often. He seems to think we should go every Sunday after church. But he cries every time we talk about her and really misses her; but he also understands very clearly where she is and even surprised me when it all clicked and he asked "So there are two parts to Grandma? One here and one in heaven? And one day they'll be put back together again?" Wow! I wasn't sure how much he'd understand at this age, but he definitely understood that part which I thought was great!

Carolee is a great baby still. She's so peaceful and wonderful. At her 2 month appointment she was 11 lbs 5 ozs, and we think 22 inches long. I need to do better about blogging same day. She's definitely growing a lot and this last week she started sleeping 13 1/2 hours a night without waking up at all! Wonderful! She found her thumb and now I've been waking her up at 830 or 9 am and she always has her thumb in her mouth. It's definitely cute! And I'm so grateful we have such a wonderful little one. Her neck is very strong and obviously now she's going to be a rollin girl! She smiles and talks all the time. She's very ticklish and loves it. She recently stopped taking her binky during the day as much and would rather take a nap without it. She's still nursing really well and I have to say I'm still having a wonderful time with this nursing round. She's obviously eating plenty since she's growing so much. She's in 3-6 months and has been for about a month or so now.

Skyler is talking so much. You would think he was almost 4 with how much he's talking and his long sentences he uses. It's amazing. And the other day he surprised us with 2 things; first he identified his colors while playing CandyLand without any problem and second he said his name willingly. He's been so careful not to say his name and now we've gotten him to say his name multiple times and he finally seems to be proud of it! He's been potty training and has been in underwear for about 3-4 weeks now. For the first couple weeks we hardly had any accidents, but now he's not really caring about using the potty at home. He's great in public usually, but at home he doesn't seem to care. So we'll have to see how this goes.

Caleb started Pre-K August 23rd and goes twice a week. He really enjoys it. It's different than last year, but he seems to be enjoying it a lot! He's reading more and more and surprises us every day with the words he's been reading...and so easily I might add. He's definitely going to be ahead when he starts kindergarten. And he starts his T-ball practices tomorrow. I didn't really want to do T-ball but they don't have a city soccer team for his age and I wanted him to do something. But it should be fun.

Now, why has it been so busy you might be wondering? Because I decided to take the plunge and start my own business. So Miskin Makings is officially up and running. It's been 2 weeks now since I listed items on my Etsy shop and opened my FB page and I've already had several orders, both local and on Etsy. I'm pretty excited. I'm trying to get enough items made so I can have a real "grand opening" sale next weekend. Let's hope I make it in time!

Jon started school again and is in his last semester. This December he should have his degree. I'm so excited for him. He's been unemployed since he got home, but in reality that was really necessary during the time. But he was just given a job offer this past Friday and is excited about it. It'll be a temp job at the power plant starting the end of this month, but the great thing is that this is where he really wants to work at. So hopefully this will help him get a job out there permanently.

Well, I guess that's about all for now, but I'll try and do better about catching up from here on out.
